We use modern mapping technology to bring planetary surfaces to life. Planetary cartography is the field of study that seeks to describe and provide meaning to the spatial relationships on planetary bodies. As geographers, more specifically cartographers, we use maps to transcend planetary bodies in space from an abstract idea to that of a real place.
